COOGEE · INDIVIDUAL TAX & CHANGING INCOME

More than one income source?
Start with what changed.

Online tax accountant support for Coogee residents with employment, consulting, business or rental income. Bring the year’s changes into one organised conversation.

Your previous return is a useful starting document, not a substitute for explaining the current year. Target Advisory helps Coogee clients identify the income records and changed circumstances relevant to their agreed tax-preparation work.

A one-off individual return is available without an ongoing business package. We confirm the scope and fee after understanding the work involved.

Build a simple timeline of the year.

Note when an activity started, stopped or changed and which documents relate to that event. A short dated summary can be more useful than a folder of unexplained statements.

Employment changed

Identify the relevant employers and any periods of concurrent employment or contracting. Explain payments you do not recognise rather than assuming all information has been correctly understood.

Independent work began or expanded

Explain who engaged you, which person or entity earned the income, how invoices were issued and where the associated costs were recorded. Contracting questions may require advice beyond routine preparation.

A property’s use or ownership changed

Identify acquisitions, disposals, rental periods or a change in use. Retain the relevant statements and transaction documents. We assess the information required rather than copying a prior year’s treatment without review.

Something remains unfinished

List outstanding returns, missing records or correspondence with a response date. Raise these at the enquiry stage so the scope and timing can be assessed.

Keep source records with the event they explain.

For consulting work, connect income records and supporting costs with the activity and entity involved. For rental information, retain the relevant managing-agent statements and documents for unusual transactions. Identify costs paid through mixed personal and business accounts for review.

This is a preparation framework, not a deduction checklist. Having a document does not by itself settle whether an amount is assessable, deductible or treated in a particular way.

From an outline to a prepared return

  1. Tell us the year, income types and significant changes.
  2. Agree the preparation work and any separately scoped advice.
  3. Complete onboarding and share requested records securely.
  4. Resolve questions and review the prepared outcome before approval and lodgement.

Your engagement identifies whether a business return or financial statements are included alongside the individual return. They are not assumed to be covered merely because you own the business.

Questions about the appointment

Can we meet entirely online?

Yes. Coogee clients can use video appointments and the agreed digital record-sharing process. Our office is in North Sydney, not Coogee; in-person meetings there are by arrangement.

Should I email my TFN or identity documents now?

No. Share an overview first. We explain the secure process and the documents required during onboarding.

Can you quote before seeing every document?

We can discuss the likely scope from your outline. The final proposal states assumptions and how additional work will be agreed if the records reveal a more involved task.

Explain the year before assembling the return.
